Parkfield hosted a hugely successful cake sale on 17 June, raising £333 for the Alzheimer’s Society. The event was attended by residents and their families, and we were also delighted to see some relatives of past residents. Even the Mayor and Mayoress of Hillingon, Mr and Mrs Roy and Reeta Chamdal, swung by to show their support and sample some delicious cupcakes.
Residents and staff had worked hard to prepare for the day. Sadly, it was chilly and overcast but that did not stop our residents who snuggled under some thick blankets in the relative warmth of the gazebos, staying nice and dry.
Here at Parkfield, Alzheimer’s is a cause that is very close to our hearts, and we are delighted that the money raised from the cupcake sale will go directly towards research and supporting people with Alzheimer’s disease. We are keen to do our part in raising awareness of this cruel condition, and it’s particularly relevant to us because some of our residents do have dementia.
Everyone enjoyed the sweet treats and showed their appreciation by donating to the cause. We had some lovely comments, including this one from one of our residents’ relatives: “Thank you so much to you all for a wonderful day! You are super organized and ready for anything; your caring support always shines out”.
We would like to express our huge thanks to Wenzel’s Bakery, Jackie (our lovely resident Eileen’s daughter) and Caroline from our incredibly supportive St John’s Church for donating so many wonderful cupcakes and other baked goodies for our sale. Thanks to their generosity and tireless efforts, Hillingdon Fire Service and Hayes Police Station enjoyed a surprise delivery of sweet treats from our staff afterwards as a thank you for their own selfless public service, which is much appreciated by us all.
