As a member of the home’s management team, the clinical / Deputy  manager plays a full part in providing the highest possible standard of care and service to residents.

As clinical /Deputy manager you will be working  40 weekly contracted hours, to be mutually agreed with the home manager, on a rota basis, providing on-call and emergency cover. To be a strong contender for the role you will need to be clinically qualified with a valid NMC PIN number, plus have management experience in a care environment and, preferably, also a management qualification. Other desirable attributes include strong communication, interpersonal and IT skills, a problem-solving approach plus the ability to lead and motivate a team and be a role model for all nursing and care staff

You will be responsible for ensuring the safe delivery of nursing care and that the home’s clinical/care performance meets required fundamental standards. The clinical manager demonstrates both clinical care and managerial leadership to other staff, supporting nursing team leaders to provide care that meets residents’ needs at all times. You will be evaluating the effectiveness of care plans and takes responsibility for auditing care delivery, developing action plans to rectify areas of weakness, monitoring and reporting these to the home manager. Other duties include conducting supervision and appraisals, dealing with staff rotas, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, ensuring that staff have the relevant skills and training, dealing with complaints, facilitating the safe administration and storing of drugs and treatments and helping the home manager to carry out pre-admission assessments.

You will adopt a ‘hands on’ approach, working with and taking responsibility for the nursing and care assistant teams, ensuring that the home’s policies and procedures are followed, in accordance with relevant legislation, to meet residents’ needs in a person-centred way.
